We Have A Monster

I seem to have an on going problem in my kitchen and I don't know what to do about it.  The only explanation I can come up with is there is a creature who enjoys eating my cutlery and measuring spoons.  Seriously!

How else can you explain the fact that my spoons and forks go missing?!?  I used to have a set of 6 forks, spoons, and knives that I Loved!  I'm down to 2 spoons and maybe 2 forks, depending on the day.  I went out and bought a set of 20, which had 4 dinner forks, dessert forks, soup spoons, teaspoons, and knives.  I am now down to 5 forks in total.  How did I go from 10 (between the 2 sets) to 5?!?!? 

I know, you'd think Danny would be the culprit but he SWEARS he returns everything he takes to work. 

Then there's my measuring spoons.


I have 3 sets of measuring cups and 4 sets of measuring spoons, so you'd think I'd have quite a bit of stuff.  You'd be wrong, so very wrong!

I am down to 3x 1 cup, 3x 1/4 cup, 2x 1/2 cup, 1x 1/3cup, and 1x 2/3 cup.  I should have a total of 13 pieces, I have 10.

For my measuring spoons it's insanity (remember I had 4 sets, complete sets, at one point): 2x 1 tsp, 3x 1/2 tsp, 4x 1/4 tsp, and 1x 1 tbsp.  I should have a total of 20-24 pieces (some sets come with 1/8 tsp, I'm not sure which ones since I have none left), I have 10. 

I don't understand my dilemma. 

I was given a Fantastic set of spoons and cups 2 years ago (they have markers on them.  For example the 1 cup has a mark for 1/4 cup and 1/2 cup, so when I lose them I can still use them) and I am the only one who uses them (and it's not like I'm handing them out or taking them out of the house) so I do not understand how they continue to disappear. 

So, I must have a monster who is eating my cutlery (although it has an aversion to butter knives, it likes steak knives since I'm missing 5 of them now too) and measuring spoons.
