The more I think about getting a dog I start to realize I don't need one. Alyssa has a lot of the same characteristics:
- She comes when you call her
- She pees on the carpet (why must kids pee when you let them run around bare bummed?)
- She loves walks. The moment you tell her to get her shoes she's ready to go. If you take too long she pulls on you, screeches to get your attention, runs from you to the stairs to you to the stairs.
- She eats off the floor.
Now, please don't think I never sweep the floor and it's a disgusting mess. She can find the smallest scrap of food and it's instantly in her mouth. You'd think we never feed her how she reacts to finding food. - She's so happy to see you if you've been behind a closed door for 30 seconds.
- She plays fetch
Don't judge, we've all done it! - She follows you everywhere
- She responds to treats; no we don't make her sit and wait while we place it on her nose. She'd never stay still that long ;o)
- She carries toys around in her mouth
We don't encourage it; we take the toys out of her mouth and tell her no - She runs in circles
- She mooches food every chance she gets
We DO feed her, I promise! - She has a short attention span. "Ooh, a ball.... look a car.... mommy!... oooh, a ball..."
- She chews things
Again, a teething thing, and if it's not a toy of hers that is meant to used for teething we tell her no, and take it out of her mouth. - She gives wet kisses that sometimes consists of licking
- We have to tell her to "get out of the garbage"
I swear, I watch my kids.
After writing this list I don't think I'm ready for a puppy. But I am ready to look at her cute face :o) (sorry for the not-so-great pictures)
Aww! You have such a cute baby! Maybe you can get a dog when she gets a bit older. That way, she can help with taking care of it :)
ReplyDeleteFound you through blog hop and followed you via GFC.

The plan is to wait til she's a bit older and go from there.
DeletePahahaha, it does kinda sound like you've got the equivalent of a puppy running around your house!
ReplyDeletedoesn't it??
DeletePuppies are such hard work! I'd never had a dog growing up, but my husband did, so we got our first puppy this winter. I definitely couldn't do it with little ones to take care of!
ReplyDeleteWe never had a dog when I was a kid so it'd be a learning process for me too
Deleteif you want a few days of a puppy to see what its like with 2 young kids, I'm bringing mine when we come down lol It's expensive and a lot of work! But I have the time lol
ReplyDeleteThanks Mel... but I think I'm going to pass ;o) LOL
DeleteLol Sound EXACTLY like my little guy! We also have kicked around the idea of a puppy for Ethan. I've always grown up with a dog so I want him to have one. Then again.. I consider all the work and money that goes into a puppy.. We don't have one yet :)
ReplyDeleteYea, we're going to wait a bit and then think about it. I'm not sold on a puppy, I like the idea of getting a 1yr old and this way I can skip puppyhood
Deletehahaha hilarious!!
ReplyDeleteStop comparing my great grandaughter to a puppy, even if all thos things are true! Love
ReplyDeleteThat's all I was pointing out, LOL
DeleteLove this! I've compared my daughter to our dogs soooo many times. Glad I'm not alone :)
ReplyDeleteThere seems to be a lot of similarities ;o)
DeleteHahah! She's so cute. I've often said having dogs and toddlers are very similar experiences. My puppy and daughter went through the peeing on the carpet stage at the same time... That was no fun!
ReplyDeleteI bet that wasn't fun; hence why I think we'll wait a bit before we seriously consider adding a dog to our family
DeleteShe's adorable! I agree, puppies and toddlers are alike! We're a pet free home, for now. I don't think I could put anything else on my plate.

I think it's harder with a puppy than with kids. Kids ease you into the chaos, puppies bring it home with them
DeleteHow incredibly funny. I loved your list and laughed, in agreement at all of them.
ReplyDeleteWhen I started the list it was small but then more and more and more came to me :o)
