Wordless Wednesday: 4 Years Old

Last year I posted a picture with answers to questions I asked Lynden.  You can see it here.

I asked Lynden the same questions this year.  {These are the exact answers he gave me}

Happy Birthday To You!

This past weekend we celebrated Lynden's birthday (along with a baby shower and a surprise party for my sister's boyfriend).

It was a blast!

We set up games for the kids

Shoot the Bad Guy and Stick the Spider on the Web

use a "web shooter" (silly string)

The goodie bags were a hit!  I'm not sure what was the most popular: the 3D glasses, the glow sticks, or the Rice Krispie Squares (I'm leaning towards the last with all the empty wrappers I found).

A BIG thank you to my cousin who made enough for everyone to go along with the 3D goodie bags, plates, napkins, banned, Lynden's shirt, and various gifts that were 3D).

My cupcakes didn't quite turn out as planned, but my stepmom had a great backup plan, which worked out well.  They were still pretty yummy.

1 Year Later

Last weekend we celebrated my Nana's 100th birthday.  It was a great party with lots of family we have not seen in years.

I thought I would show you what a difference a year makes.

Me & Alyssa, 1 year later

It's so nice to be able to actually see what them a year ago and now.

One of the coolest things at the party was one of my cousins had a baby a few days before the party.  Great great grandma and grandson are almost 100 years apart (6 days separating their birthdays) and were at the same party.  Not many people can say that.

{A big Thank you to my cousin Shelly who took photos at both parties.  She got some Amazing pictures!}

3 Short Months

When the summer started I was worried about how Lynden was going to do with preschool starting in just a few short months.  He's a pretty shy kid, which leads to a lot of clingyiness to people he does know.

Granted, we are to blame, since we don't expose him enough to new people and situations.

In June Lynden was afraid of loud noises, scared to go in water, wouldn't talk to new people (unless you played with him), not comfortable exploring new places, among some other hesitations.  Alyssa, on the other hand, has no problems with trying anything.

Now, it's September and Lynden is a whole new kid.

Loud noises are not nearly as scary.  He now tries to figure out what the sound might be.

Water?  No problem!  We go to the lake and he's itching to splash around.  He loves running through the sprinkler or hose.  He thinks it's funny when daddy splashed him at the pool.

He's more comfortable around new people.  Like me, he's shy at first but once he's okay with his surroundings he's chatty and social.  A great example was the long weekend we had a BBQ at a cousin's place, there were a lot of people we didn't know.  During dinner Alyssa was getting cranky so I decided to take her home and gave Lynden the option to come with us or stay.  He opted to stay, which is a big deal for him.  As we were leaving Lynden was talking to a woman with a baby, who's name was also Lynden (I don't the know the exact spelling).  I later heard he talked to her for quite a while.

Thank You!

Thank you to the bus drivers who pass us each time we're out for a walk.

Thank you to the garbage men who come every Wednesday, rain or shine.

Thank you to the firemen who drive firetrucks and wave to happy little boys.

Thank you to the mail man who comes to our house {almost} every day and makes us wonder if there's anything special.

Thank you to the "music truck"; we can hear your songs from down the street.

Wordless Wednesday: Lynden {Part 1}

In honour of Lynden turning 4 in just a few weeks, here's some of my favourite pictures of him from the last year!
