Cans For Comments Donation

Cans for Comments went pretty well.  I cannot thank you all enough for the comments.  We had 2 additional blogs join us, and I've heard a few more are participating this week.

In total I received 59 comments and gained 16 new followers; that equaled 59 cans and $3, which I decided to turn into more food.

Now, bad blogger here, I did not take a picture of my donation.  But I swear I did buy it and donate it - I have witnesses.

Tuesday the annual CPR holiday train rolled into town.   The kids, my grandma, and I headed down and dropped the donation off, while taking in the celebration.  There were hot dogs, hot chocolate, train whistles, pretty lights, Santa and his (slightly creepy looking) elves, and some good tunes.

I have not heard from all my co-hosts, but Shary donated 12 cans and Kera donated 6 toys, 23 cans, and an impressive $103!!!

If you participated and donated, please link up below so we can all see how well you did.

If you are participating in Cans for Comments now feel free add to your link as well

Dash: Tea Party {Final Day for Cans For Comments}

Lynden had a sleep over at Gramma's house last night (and I heard whispers of Dash dropping something off there during the night) so last night he had a tea party for one.

Alyssa hasn't noticed.

She enjoys holding him and making him dance (and not sharing with Lynden) but that's about as far as she understands what he's about.

Today is the final day of Cans for Comments.

I would like to thank all of you for your comments and follows (I'm over 50 comments).  It's all going to a good cause.

A HUGE Thank you to my spectacular co-hosts!!!  You ladies are beyond amazing.

Visit them today and leave one final comment.

Dash: Traffic

Disclaimer {read before looking at the pictures}: Lynden loves cars (I may have mentioned that before) and I know he has a lot.

We have no 2 that are the same.  He can tell you something about almost every car.  He has a lot (and he'll get more on Christmas morning)!

Dash put them to good use last night

Now, I thought it was a parade but Lynden corrected me this morning "look at all the traffic mommy".

An update on yesterday's post: Lynden's listening ears were on for most of the day.  I was gone all day but Danny said with the exception of quiet time Lynden was a pretty good listener.  Guess we should learn to stick to the chocolate advent calendar after dinner instead of after quiet time.

We are down to the final 2 days of Cans for Comments

I touched base with a few of my co-hosts yesterday and it seems to be going well (it could always be better).

So, if you have not done so already (even if you have go again), please visit Liz at Funny PostPartum Lady, Dawn at Dawn's Disaster, Kera at Nugget on a Budget, and Shary at Shary Loves You and leave them a comment and follow them via GFC.

(A BIG Thank you for the shout out yesterday from Liz, I had almost 20 comments left yesterday!)

Remember: it all goes to local charities.

Dash: Sad Elf

This morning Lynden awoke to a letter from Dash, and not a happy one (not that Dash ever stops smiling)

Dash is sad because he's had to tell Santa that Lynden has not listening.

{I know Lynden can't be awesome all the time, but it's been so nice having him listen, share nicely, and be polite}

Cans for Comments ends Saturday, so keep those comments coming!!

Dash: Up High

Dash seems to be happy our tree is up, this morning it took Lynden almost 2 hours to find him.

We're slowly working on our tree - by the end of the week we should be done.

I found some great link ups for those who have elves.

Dash: ZZZZZZZ

Dash has had some late nights.  He somehow got a tree and put it up, that's exhausting for us normal sized people, he's like 8" tall.  Guess it finally caught up with him

Hopefully, Lynden will remember what he learned yesterday about not waking people when they're sleeping (it was a fight at 6:30 yesterday).

Yesterday's advent activity was to go see Santa.  Danny took them down to the mall and they didn't get pictures but talked to Santa - Lynden seems to be warming up to him; Alyssa's not going near him.

Today's activity: spend the day with family.

We're heading up to Grouse for the day with some cousins.  There's reindeer, Santa, cookie decorating, and a bunch of other things going on.

"It's getting to feel a lot like Christmas"

Dash: O Christmas Tree

What a handy little elf we have.

I was feeling a little late on getting some sort of sign of Christmas (Dash has been here a week) and viola!  Dash solved that

He brought us a Christmas tree!!!  A real one, which I don't think I've had in at least 10 years.

He also brought us a big mess, which is okay since we needed a good vacuuming anyways.

Now we need to find some time to decorate it and Christmas will have officially arrived in our house!

Cans For Comments Starts!!

Today is the first day of Cans for Comments.

For those of you who haven't been following along here's how it works.

I will be donating 1 can for every comment you leave between today and December 15th. I will also be donating $1 for every 5 new GFC followers (I am starting with 333 followers)

There are 4 wonderfully amazing bloggers who have volunteered to co-host this with me:

Liz at Funny PostPartum Lady is donating 1 can for every comment and $1 for every GFC follower

Dawn at Dawn's Disaster is donating 10-cents for every comment and $1 for every 5 new GFC follower

Kera at Nugget on a Budget is donating 1 can for every 5 comments, 1 toy or article of clothing for every 20 comments, and $1 for every 5 followers via GFC, BlogLovin', Facebook, or Twitter (just let her know how you're following)

Shary at Shary Loves You is donating 1 can for every 5 comments

All donations will be made to local charities (food bank, toys for tots).  We will be hosting an additional link up on Friday December 21st (the day that world is "suppose" to end) with our donation posts.

Now for the fun part, I am challenging ALL bloggers out there (yes, you!) to participate for 1 day.  You choose what donation you would like to make.  There will be a link up, so come back and link up for the day you would like to participate.

Cans For Comments

A few weeks back I was looking for co-hosts to help out with a fundraiser to support local food banks.

Sadly, I didn't get as good of a response as I was hoping for BUT I had 2 wonderful bloggers volunteer.  So, on we go!

From Friday December 7th to Saturday December 15th we will be partaking in the 1st Cans For Comments.

My wonderful co-hosts are Liz from Funny Postpartum Lady and Dawn from Dawn's Disaster.

Liz is co-hosting for the 7th-15th and has graciously agreed to donate 1 can for each comment she receives during that time and $1 for every new follower!

Dawn will be joining us from the 13-15th, donating 10-cents per comment :o)

I will be donating 1 can for every comment and $1 for every 5 new followers.

So make sure you come back and check us out during those 8 days.

I'm also challenging all bloggers out there to participate for 1 day - any day you like.  You are welcome to set your goal at anything you like (cans, money, toys, your choice).  We will have a link-up open so come back and join us!

Remember, it benefits your local food bank.

If you would like to join in on the co-hosting gig, you can contact me here

Grab the button (copy and paste) if you wish to participate during Cans for comments.  Pass the word along, the more the merrier

Looking For Co-Hosts

Last year my friend and blogger, Amber, did a wonderful fundraiser for the local food bank and I am going to steal borrow her idea.

She called it "Cans for Comments".

For a designated period every comment she received she would donate a can of food to the food bank.

I would like to do it as a link up/blog hop starting around American Thanksgiving (Nov 22) until just before Christmas.  Ideally, I'd like to have different hosting bloggers for a designated time (a week or 2) so we can keep the donations going for almost a month.

I do have a more detailed idea, which I will happily share (and take comments on) with anyone interested in joining me.  So, if you are interested in co-hosting please contact me here or email me at bluepens_30{at}hotmail{dot}com.
